Set in 15th-century Transylvania, Prince Vlad is a peaceful ruler who has spent years distancing himself from his past as "Vlad the Impaler". When Sultan Mehmed II (Dominic Cooper) demands 1,000 Transylvanian boys—including Vlad's own son—to serve in his army, Vlad refuses.
